Here you will learn all about the Goldendoodle.

DESCRIPTION

The Goldendoodle is made up of two per bred dogs.

One a Poodle and the other are a Golden Retriever.

The color of coat can be cream, gold, apricot, chocolate, gray and black.

The appearance of the Goldendoodle runs anywhere from a shaggy-looking retriever to a curl-relaxed poodle.

Like many poodle crosses, most Goldendoodles are light to non-shedding, most live easily with families with MILD allergies. Families with moderate to severe allergies often find that Goldendoodle backcrosses can work well.

 GENERATIONS

The first generation (F1) standard size was the first to be bred. It is the product of a standard Poodle crossed with a Golden Retriever. Most first generation Goldendoodles either don’t shed or shed lightly, and are compatible for most families with MILD allergies.

Crossing a F1 Goldendoodle with a Poodle produces the backcross (F1B) Goldendoodle.

These dogs will have a higher success rate for non-shedding, and are recommended for families with Moderate to Severe allergies.

 MINI GOLDENDOODLES

This is a mix of a Golden Retriever and a toy poodle. Most of the time this is produced by artificial insemination.

Or you can do as I have done and breed down the size of your Golden Retriever. This is accomplished by breeding a Golden Retriever to a Cocker Spaniel or Miniature Poodle. This produces what is called a Mini Retriever.

In doing this it takes away the major size difference in the GR and TP. When the GR is bred to the TP you end up with a lot of puppies with shorter legs, longer backs and it produces back problems in the future. Plus you cannot determine the size as well as you can with the down sized GR.

So here I have the Mini Retriever and breed it to a small SP. Which will even out any personality quirks that might come from the TP or CS. These breeding also produce a much healthier puppy and better proportioned puppy in the long run.

 TEMPERAMENT

Goldendoodles are an intelligent and obedient family companion. They are everybody's friend and devoted to their family. They are friendly towards children, other dogs and pets, and easy with strangers. They are social dogs, happiest when with people. Goldendoodles are likely to get into mischief and develop behavior problems if they spend most of their time alone. Their intelligence, eagerness to please and love of learning make them easy to train.

The quick rise in the popularity of Goldendoodles is due to the dogs themselves. They are a most marvelous hybrid. Goldendoodles are a first generation cross, and as such they exhibit hybrid vigor. This is a Phenomenon in animal breeding referring to the fact that the first cross between two unrelated purebred lines is healthier and grows better and lives longer than either parent line. The hybrid cross between these two parent breeds are terrific family dogs, friendly, intelligent, affectionate and easy to train.

Here at our Kennel we breed only F1 goldendoodles and F1b goldendoodles. After the first breeding you lose the hybrid vigor. So if you are looking into a multi generation goldendoodle you are missing the whole point to this magnificent hybrid. This was to produce a dog as much like a GR as possible, with less sheding, that could still be used for field hunting and retrieving. The SP could not be more like a GR then any other breed. They are a water retrieving dog, just like the GR. There personality is very loyal to their master and very intelligent, easy to train and eager to please. With a little mind of their own on the side.

I hope this helped you in your search for your Goldendoodle puppy.
